My Photography

I’ve been interested in photography since I was a child. At school, my dream job was to be a photographer for the national geographic. However, I thought it would be too difficult to get a job down this route and as I’d chosen sciences and maths at school, I wanted to use them in my job. This may have been a bit short sighted of me however we all make good and bad decisions. Its not always possible to know the consequences of them straight away!

My camera:

I use a Nikon D40.

Why? Because it was cheap and lightweight.I’d reccomend it to anyone starting off in photography.

Of course I’d like to have bought a more expensive camera, however I only had a student budget.

Lenses:

  • 18-55mm Kit Lens
  • 55-200mm VR Nikor

I’d like to buy a prime lens however it would require me to always manually focus as my camera doesn’t have internal focus motors. I’d also like a fish eye lens however they cost more than my camera!

Recently I borrowed a friends camera with a flash gun, and although in hindsight its really obvious, the difference to the lighting in picture compared to built-in flash is huge. Thus this is next on my to break-the-bank buy list…oh and a big tripod…

Realistically, I may be able to fund this if I get a good job from my degree. Maybe thats the one salvation of my course in Chemical Engineering. Good old high salaries!

This is my dream camera. Will be a while before I buy anything like this. One of my friends from halls had this as her first camera. However its quite expensive. How expensive? Approximately £1,449.00 from Amazon with lens…..One day!
