Guests who are fans of spooky haunted houses and ghost stories may consider staying at the 3-star Hotel Celebrity in the South Coast town of Bournemouth. Despite its modern furnishings and facilities the hotel was built over one of the first houses constructed in the popular resort town which gives it a grand sense of history, as well as an ideal location overlooking the beach.
Several sightings of a ghostly child who passed away in the 1880’s as a result of tuberculosis have been reported by guests staying at the establishment, to the extent that the hotel owners now provide a leaflet describing the history of the case in great detail. Amateur ghost-hunters are advised that the sightings are most common in December which marks the anniversary of the young girl’s death, however you may be lucky to get a glimpse of the apparition as the spirit is only sighted around four times each year.
Even the more sceptical guests will appreciate the rich story behind the ghost of the Hotel Celebrity which adds to the quirky atmosphere of the establishment, although if you are someone who believes in ghostly tales then the friendly staff will certainly be on hand to ward away the phantom if she is being a restless spirit!
