For everybody who has mental images of me surfing on a sofa think again. Couchsurfing is a revellation in travelling which everybody should know about!
The principle is you share your couch/bed/floor/whatever with strangers and they let you stay with them. There is no obligation to reciprocate however it is obviously done to be generous in spirit and what not. I’m currently a couch-surfing virgin at the moment but will let you guys know my views on it. (assuming I don’t meet some evil couch surfer and meet the end of Crusoe…)
I found out about couch surfing while traveling through Slovenia by train. I spoke to a girl traveling through Europe (she started in South Korea) and was couch surfing all one her own. Thats gotta take some guts! (and she was only 20).
