Welcome to Crusoe’s Blog

My trip, sadly, is now over and I am once again back in the UK. Arriving home on Friday 24th July 2009 at Heathrow airport I was shocked to find a welcoming party upon arriving through the arrival gate. My family and my girlfriend were waiting to take me back to the house I grew up in (haven’t been there since Christmas). Yesterday passed and I find I am already getting back into the routine of home life. On my last day in Bangkok, I helped my classmate, Pong volunteer at a blind school. Its incredible to witness how much human beings can adapt to the conditions in which they face. Constantly, throughout my trip I have had to adjust to new surroundings, new people and new thinking. Thus, upon returning home, I adapted extremely fast to an environment which I’d left years ago.

Although my contribution to the blind school was minuscule, I’m glad one of the last things I did was (an attempt) to help others. I’ve returned home and realised how fortunate I’ve been throughout my life and I hope I never forget this once I return to my day to day routines. I realise now how precious my life is and I never want to lose that feeling.

For those of you who are wondering whether I will continue blogging now I have finished travelling I’m afraid this is impossible. I have to accept that my life I’m moving into, although exciting for me, may not be that exciting for you! It is difficult to chose how much of my life I want to make public and it’s been difficult to chose how much of my opinions and experiences I wish to share with you. Ultimately, I cannot share my everyday life with the world as I also require my privacy as do those around me. Perhaps one day in the future on another quest for experiences around the world Crusoe’s blog shall emerge from the darkness once again, but until that day I’ll leave you with the IN SOUTH EAST ASIA travel blogs.

There will be some new content added however, once I manage to fix my camera and will be able to include some more photographs onto the blog. Be patient! Also, there will be some never been seen before content of 2 days which I didn’t have access to a computer and feel it is necessary for me to add them in to complete the trip.

I’m going to finish off with some lessons that I particularly think highly of:

  • “A wise man once said a man who lived his life and achieved a great deal went down to the ocean and shook his hand in the waves disturbing the water. The difference he made to the sea is similar to that of his effect on the Universe.” George
  • “Failing to plan is planning to fail” -Beanie
  • “You’ve only got 1 life.” -Random Swede from my Dormitory room in Bangkok”"
  • “Hope for the best, plan for the worst!” Crazy Ryan (ze Panface)
  • When travelling the most important thing to take with you is your sense of humour!-Crusoe

Finally Thank you for everyone who helped make my trip the great experience that it was. I shall never forget your kindness.
